This listing is for a custom made aluminum adapter plate along with a new 11" flywheel to fit the 460, 504, 544, 656, 666 and 686 gear drive in gas or diesel.
REAR ENGINE ADAPTER PLATE FITS 312, 360, 414, 436, AND 466 IH ENGINES
YOU WILL NEED TO FIND A FRONT COVER FROM A 312 ENGINE OUT OF A TRACTOR OR WE CAN
PROVIDE A MODIFIED PLATE FOR APPROX $350 THAT WILL FIT INTO THE FRAME RAILS CORRECTLY AT THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE

Our plate is a precision built piece that fits the profile of the bell housing properly and looks like an original part. You can be assured the alignment is correct,
They are built on a 2015 model CNC machine and designed to use the original dial pins on the bell housing side so that everything runs true. This kit is built with pride here in the US and is designed for appearance as well as strength. Will be a re-power that you can be proud of and that will pay for itself in fuel savings and added value to the tractor. Makes a pretty good conversation piece as well!
THESE ADAPTER PLATES ARE BUILT TO WORK WITH FRAME RAILS THAT ATTACH TO THE SIDE OF THE BELL HOUSING, (SEE PICS)
IF YOURS MOUNT ON THE FRONT FACE OF THE BELL HOUSING LIKE A 460 OR 656 USUALLY DID, YOU WILL NEED TO FIND THE
LATER STYLE FRAME RAIL MENTIONED ABOVE. OR AT LEAST YOU WILL NEED TO BUY THE ENDS OFF OF THE LATER STYLE AND WELD THEM TO YOUR EXISTING RAILS. WE CAN SUPPLY THE ENDS THAT ARE NEEDED.
To ensure the right length is achieved, we often have the customer buy the rear section of the side mounted rails, then cut and weld them to the original rails. This of course requires some accurate measuring and a good welder to make them look like an original rail. This frame rail issue is generally found only on the 460 and 656 tractors. You should be able to buy them at your local IH salvage yard for a reasonable price. Frame rails in general do not sell fast or often. $75 to $175 per side seems to be the market. We have them access to them if you can't find them and may be building them to the correct length for the 656's if time allows.
The plate is built of Aluminum alloy or steel (by special order), comes with a new 11 inch flywheel, This flywheel is built so that you can run a starter from the diesel version of your tractor in most all applications named here. Our ring gear has 134 teeth and measures 13.560 outside diameter, this is a common size and tooth count even on some of the gas versions of the models mentioned here. This means your gas starter may fit and work, count teeth and measure your existing flywheel gear. This flywheel will allow you to use factory 11inch IH clutch parts including the throw out and pilot bearing etc. These are common over the counter parts from your local dealer or at any number of aftermarket parts yards and clutch rebuilders. We sell the 11 inch clutch kit for a 686 except we like heavier springs in the PP and 6 pad discs with the bigger pads.for $295 plus core.charge.
ALL ORIGINAL ADJUSTMENTS AND CLUTCH CONTROLS ARE RETAINED. THIS MEANS OUR HIGH PERFORMANCE TA'S AND CLUTCHES
AND STRAIGHT DRIVES FOR THESE MODEL TRACTORS ARE USABLE AS WELL!!

WE ALSO SELL GOOD QUALITY NEW RADIATORS WITH THE LOWER RETURN OUTLET ON THE CORRECT (RIGHT) SIDE. THIS SAVES TIME AND MAKES SENSE AS IT ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR A HOME MADE CROSS TUBE AND ENSURES THAT YOUR ENGINE WILL STAY PROPERLY COOLED. THESE WILL BOLT IN THE SAME AS YOUR ORIGINAL RADIATOR ON MOST OF THE MODELS MENTIONED AND IN MOST CASES YOUR SHROUD WILL BE A DIRECT BOLT ON AS WELL, SPECIAL PRICE OF $500 WHEN BOUGHT WITH A KIT.
THE 666, 686 IN DIESEL ALREADY HAVE A RADIATOR THAT HAS A RIGHT SIDE OUTLET

THE FLYWHEEL WE HAVE WILL WORK IN SOME OF THOSE APPLICATION AS WELL BUT THE RING GEAR MAY BE AN ISSUE DEPENDING ON YOUR STARTER.
